Event Details
Mental health disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia affect not only the individual but also their families, relationships, and the wider community, including the church. Unfortunately, misconceptions, stigma, and a lack of understanding often prevent those who are struggling from receiving the support and care they need.
These workshops are designed to equip attendees with a better understanding of common mental health disorders. Participants will learn about the nature of these conditions, the challenges faced by those living with mental illness, and practical ways to provide informed, compassionate support.
By increasing awareness and fostering understanding, the church can become a place of acceptance, hope, and healing. Participants will explore how Christian communities can reduce stigma, build supportive relationships, and play a meaningful role in the recovery journey of individuals and families affected by mental health challenges.

Stressors come in all shapes and sizes, and it builds up. Unfortunately, most of us don’t account for that in our day-to-day routines. Stress is often defined as a bodily response to the demands of life. While some stress can be beneficial, chronic stress can overwhelm our natural systems. There are also emotional and mental aspects of stress. It is experienced as thoughts and feelings as well as in the body.
Few of us make time for stress relief in our daily routines, which allows stress to bubble away and build up. Dubbed "the silent killer," stress demands attention. There is no one- size-fits-all solution for managing stress. But through this workshop, we aim to enhance the participant’s understanding on stress and its management. With the awareness, the negative effects of stress can be minimized, or hopefully prevented.
The objectives are to:
1. Understand what stress is, what causes it, and how it affects us.
2. Learn some of the ways to manage stress.
3. Discover some means to prevent it from negatively affecting us.
Target audience:
Church staff, lay counsellors, social workers and to all who are interested in learning about what stress is, how it affects us, and how to manage it.
